Once your website is complete it must be hosted and maintained.

Every web page, email and file contained within a website must be stored on a dedicated web server which in simple terms is a computor permanently connected to the Internet.  Hosting companies or web hosts offer the rental of storage space on a web server they either own or lease and thus allowing permanent access to website information.

A word of warning:  There are many companies that offer free hosting but please be aware that they provide a very limited service or no  service at all.  Such companies fund this free hosting by advertising and usually offer no support if you encounter problems.

Keeping your website up to date after it has been lauched is as important as creating your website in the first place.  If information remains static there is little reason for anone to re-visit a website and potential business will be lost.

Maintenance involves managing your website, tracking visitors, updating information of products or services and repairing any broken links.

Costs for the hosting and maintenance of websites vary, web hosts normally charge a monthly or annual hosting fee for their services.
